Disclaimer

 Last updated: 15th June, 2026

This Disclaimer explains important limitations on the content and services PassQuest provides. Please read it. It exists to be honest with you about what the app can and cannot do.

1. PassQuest is not affiliated with the IELTS examination bodies

PassQuest is an independent exam preparation tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any organisation that administers or owns the IELTS examination, including the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge English), the British Council, or IDP Education Australia.

IELTS® is a registered trademark of Cambridge English, the British Council, and IDP Education Australia. Its use here is solely to identify the examination students are preparing for. Practice questions in PassQuest are independently created and designed to reflect the style and difficulty of IELTS questions. They are not sourced from official IELTS question banks.

For official IELTS practice materials, refer to Cambridge IELTS books published by Cambridge University Press, or the official IELTS websites at ielts.org, britishcouncil.org/exam/ielts, and ielts.idp.com. We recommend using PassQuest alongside official Cambridge past papers, not as a substitute for them.

2. Readiness scores and projected bands are estimates, not official scores

PassQuest provides a Readiness Score and Projected Band estimate based on your in-app performance. These are statistical approximations — not official IELTS band scores.

Your official IELTS band score can only be obtained by sitting the IELTS examination at an authorised test centre and being assessed by a qualified IELTS examiner. PassQuest does not guarantee that any readiness level in the app corresponds to any specific result in your official examination.

Do not substitute a PassQuest readiness estimate for an official IELTS score in any immigration, university admission, or professional registration application. Official IELTS scores are the only accepted evidence for these purposes.

3. AI Writing feedback is not official examiner marking

Writing feedback in PassQuest is generated by artificial intelligence (OpenAI gpt-4o-mini) and is not produced by a certified IELTS examiner. The band estimates within Writing feedback are AI approximations intended for coaching guidance — not official assessment.

AI assessment has known limitations, including in evaluating nuanced language, complex argumentation, and cultural references. For high-stakes preparation, we recommend supplementing AI feedback with feedback from a qualified IELTS tutor or examiner.

4. Pronunciation is not assessed in Speaking practice

The AI Speaking examiner in PassQuest (Phase 2) assesses Fluency & Coherence, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range & Accuracy. Pronunciation is not assessed. Pronunciation represents 25% of the official IELTS Speaking score and requires a qualified human examiner to assess fairly and accurately across diverse accents and first languages.

Any Speaking band estimate shown in the app reflects only three of the four criteria and should be read as a partial assessment. For pronunciation coaching, we recommend Elsa Speak alongside your PassQuest practice.

5. No guarantee of exam, immigration, or admission outcomes

PassQuest makes no guarantee of any specific outcome resulting from use of the app. We cannot and do not guarantee:

  • Any specific IELTS band score in your official examination.
  • Any immigration, visa, or permanent residency decision.
  • Admission to any university or educational institution.
  • Any professional registration or employment outcome.

PassQuest is a study tool. Our commitment is to provide high-quality, relevant practice. Outcomes that depend on external factors — test day performance, examiner assessment, institutional decisions — are beyond our control.

6. Service availability

PassQuest is provided “as available”. AI-powered features require an active internet connection and depend on the availability of third-party services including Google Firebase and OpenAI’s API. We are not responsible for service disruptions caused by third-party outages, scheduled maintenance, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control. We will use reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of planned maintenance.

7. Third-party references

PassQuest may reference or recommend third-party services, including Elsa Speak for pronunciation coaching and official IELTS resources. These references are not commercial endorsements. We have no control over third-party content, availability, or practices, and are not responsible for any third-party service.
